On December 13, 2024, the GVG Staff visited the Nisg̱a’a Residents of the Terraceview Lodge. This visit has been an annual on-going event for 10 years hosted by the GVG Programs and Services Department.
The visit was led by Teresa Spalding who has been a Health Care Assistant for 21 years at Terraceview Lodge and employed by Northern Health. Teresa is from the community of Gitlax̱t’aamiks but lives in Kitsum Kalum.
GVG Staff from the Programs and Services Department and the Community Relations Department delivered Christmas gift bags to the residents. Other gifts included Nisg̱a’a preserves such as ḵ’ayukws (salmon strips) and saḵ’olkw’a’a (toasted seaweed) that were prepared by the Smoke House Crew. The Nisg̱a’a residents especially appreciated the special preserves.
There was a total of 12 residents who were visited and provided with gift distributions. The GVG Staff sang Christmas carols to the Nisg̱a’a Residents of the Terraceview Lodge upon arrival of the visit of each resident in their rooms or common space.
The Gitlax̱t’aamiks Village Government Staff would like to recognize the work and dedication of the 6 Nisg̱a’a Health Care Assistants and Health Care Aide’s who provide care to the residents in the Terraceview Lodge. T’ooyaḵsiy̓ n̓iin!
