Annual Gitlax̱t’aamiks Village Government Community Christmas Dinner a huge success!

On December 11, 2024 the Gitlax̱t’aamiks Village Government hosted their annual Community Christmas Dinner.

Deputy Chief Councillor Noah Guno did the Welcome Address and extended his Seasons Greetings. Councillors Denise Eli, Melanie Woods, Steven Bright also extended Seasons Greetings to the Community of Gitlax̱t’aamiks. Councillor Leonard Guno sent his regrets due to a death in his family. Councillor Taron Scott sent her regrets as she is away on medical. Chief Councillor Calvin Morven and Councillor Quinton Nisyok sent their Seasons Greetings as they are away for Government Training.

There were 84 tables set each with place settings of 8 per table which provided enough seating for 672 guests. A team of 12 appointed Kitchen Staff including 6 main caterers cooked for the entire event which showcased their professional chef skills. The Kitchen Staff provided Turkey Dinner with all the fixings to over 600 guests.

The event planning committee organized every detail from decorating, set-up, table setting, draw ticket organizing, draw and door prize organizing. On behalf of the Gitlax̱t’aamiks YTC the GVG Staff sold Food Hamper ($1,772.00) and 50/50 Draw ($1,858.00) Tickets and raised a total of $3,630.00 that was turned over to the YTC.

The Agenda for the evening showcased the Gitlax̱t’aamiks Headstart and Nursery Class, various local organizations and entities who provided Christmas Caroling entertainment during the event.

The budget for the Christmas Dinner consisted of $50,000.00 that came from the interest earned of the Administration Department.
